Gary Malkin, Principal, Music Director
Gary Malkin is a multiple Emmy Award-winning composer, performer, keynote speaker and healing music innovator who empowers the world to embrace music and sound strategies as catalysts for health, wellness, and a connection to what matters most. He is dedicated to redefining music’s role in healthcare, with a particular focus on creating “heart-centered”™ ambient strategies for more collaborative, empathic and mindful engagement in the workplace for enhanced well-being and optimal performance. Gary has produced transformational listening tools and trainings for more compassionate life transitions, including resources and programs that support healthier pregnancies and births, rejuvenation for professional caregivers, a more humane approach to end-of-life and grieving processes. His globally acclaimed palliative classic, Graceful Passages, co-created with award-winning filmmaker Michael Stillwater and Doris Laesser Stillwater, has touched nearly a million people worldwide by offering emotional and spiritual support for patients, caregivers, and their families facing life-threatening illnesses and end-of-life processes. Gary is also proud to have co-authored the award-winning multi-media perinatal resource, Safe in the Arms of Love, with Lisa Rafel and acclaimed psychologist David Surrenda, Ph.D. Dedicated to strengthening the essential bond between parents and newborns, this creative team is close to launching a social impact musical theatre initiative entitled Can You Hear Me Baby, soon to be seen in repertory theatres and healthcare conferences. Still scoring media projects, Gary composed the award-winning soundtrack for the documentary phenomenon, Thrive, seen by 90 million people in 40 countries since 2011. As the presenter to places such as Stanford Health, Google, Harvard’s Conference on Spirituality and Health, Scripps Clinic, and Kaiser Permanente, he is frequently invited to conferences focused on Health and Wellness, Arts and Health, Mindfulness Innovations, Music for Global Healing, and many other life-enhancing initiatives throughout the world. As the new Music Director for the music and environment company, Aesthetic Audio Systems, Gary will be harnessing his extensive experience as a media composer by curating healthcare environments with customized musical programs and strategies.
